Desiree Palermo (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 1986) earned a B.S.Ed. in art education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and earned her M.F.A. in painting at the Savannah College of Art and Design, in Savannah, Georgia. She had her most recent solo show, "Fleeting Elation" at Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, and group exhibitions in Pittsburgh, Johnstown, and Savannah, including “Electric Kool Aid”, “Just Say'N”, and “Port City Review Showcase”. She creates large-scale abstract paintings with a focus on relationships between the materials, formal elements and intuition. Currently, Palermo is a studio art teacher at Propel Schools in Pittsburgh, and is exploring more collage and sculptural elements in her work.
